Glad to hear you did eventually make it through. I’ve gotta say, I love your stories because you meet and talk to so many random, yet incredibly intriguing people - and then glean so many cool things from those conversations.

I can appreciate people who do that, because I am the same way and I typically get teased for it.

As always, very interesting story.

I really miss Mikan now that I am back home. I used to go through about 4 or 5 of them a day while I was in Japan. But yes, now that I think of it, they were totally seasonal. As the season passed, they were being sold for cheaper and cheaper, and by December you could have a bag that would go rotten within 2 or 3 days.

But there is a good side to this seasonable stuff, it forces you to buy what is fresh now. Nothing is worse than biting into a genetically modified super-fruit that has absolutely no taste.

so awesome!!! i loved all the pictures- the ocean looks beautiful, i remember loving that view when we drove by. Your pictures are getting better - wish you had taken one of the village idiot in Shiwa.

All your bike rides sound like you are exploring some crazy, untraversed other worlds. how cool! i am jealous!!!

haha! you WOULD overdo it on the watermelon!!!

we use yuzu to make sorbets and ice creams and as a flavoring. bitter but good. i wanna try one of these mikan things.

bananas don’t taste good all year round here. yuck.

i can say that fresh apples right off the tree are amazing!!!
